EHESS – Call For Applications Postdoctoral fellowship “Environment in Asia”

The École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) is offering a post-doctoral contract for research on the topic of “Environment in Asia ». The contract is for twelve months starting on 1st October 2020 with a gross salary of 2365 € a month.

For this position, we are looking for candidates working on environmental issues. Open to all social science fields, the project should concentrate on Asia, involving the study of primary sources and vernacular language data. Priority will be given to candidates already collaborating with the Asian scientific community. Projects may address environmental challenges, policies and the temporality of their implementation, or social representations and associated behaviors – which vary greatly according to the specific country or field under consideration. The research project will also have to show how its research objects lead to a more global reflection, prompted by the analysis of  the Asian area.

The École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences) is a graduate-only research institution that has a unique standing in the world of research and higher education in France. It hosts scholars from all over the world committed to the study of contemporary societies seen within broad cultural and historical contexts. It trains students up to PhD level in all disciplines of the social and human sciences

Eligibility

Applicants must have defended their Ph.D. between January 1, 2017 and January 31, 2020 in an institution other than the EHESS, in France or abroad (co-supervision with the EHESS is also excluded).

The EHESS is particularly interested in very interdisciplinary projects with an international scope and which open up a potential for dialogue with several laboratories or fields at the EHESS.

• A copy of your PhD diploma or a certificate attesting the authenticity of your degree
• Your PhD dissertation defense report.
• A letter of motivation/application addressed to the President of the EHESS
• A five-page maximum document stating your research project and post-doc activities which addresses specifically the chosen research theme.
